HR/EUSR Inzko meets EU Foreign Ministers Bulgaria, and Slovenia

High Representative and EU Special Representative (HR/EUSR) Valentin Inzko has today in Sarajevo met with the Foreign Ministers Bulgaria, Nikolay Mladenov and Slovenia, Samuel Zbogar. After jointly addressing members of Parliament as part of the “Parliament for Europe” project, HR/EUSR Inzko exchanged views on a number of current issues with the Foreign Ministers, their visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) being a clear sign that the country ranks high on European and regional agenda. A representative of the EU’s External Action Service, the newly established body that advises Baroness Ashton, the EU’s chief diplomatic representative, took also part in the meeting.

HR/EUSR Inzko informed the Foreign Ministers of the ongoing and deeply regrettable standstill in government formation and the serious implications this political failure has for the citizens of BiH.

As the Western Balkans picks on the road to its European destination, BiH is struggling to inch forward. “With their intransigence politicians have already put the most vulnerable citizens at risk. Without an end to this gridlock they only face continuing hardship”, HR/EUSR Inzko said. “With every day that passes by without a government focused on Euro-Atlantic Integration, especially at state-level, BiH looses time that it does not have.”
