Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA) publishes results of research on public awareness related to digitalization in BiH

BiH Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA) is a partner in the regional project “SEE Digi.TV”, co-financed by the European Union from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) in the framework of the Transnational Cooperation Programme for South East Europe. As part of the activities within the project, a research on public awareness related to digitalization in BiH was prepared. Research was conducted in November 2012 by personal telephone interviews, with 1010 participants from the entire territory of BiH. Some of the main conclusions of this study are:


» Analogue terrestrial broadcasting is the primary source of TV signal reception, especially in rural areas
» New technologies are much more available in urban areas
» Public campaign related to digitalization should put emphasis on rural areas, especially on dissemination of information via call centers and TV programs
» It is necessary to develop and implement activities related to media literacy, especially for older, unemployed and persons from rural areas


The aim of “SEE Digi.TV” project is harmonisation of legal, economic and technical aspects of digitalisation process in the South East Europe region with the EU, thus preventing fragmentation of policies, technologies and markets. Besides, the project aims to develop a regional strategy that will enable the optimum frequency spectrum for new ICT broadband services and efficient management of digital dividend. Beside Bosnia and Herzegovina, following countries participate in the project: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania as well as Austria, Italy and Hungary.
