Prize ‘Srdjan Aleksic’ awarded for reporting on marginalized groups

The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka and CURE Foundation Sarajevo organized the third solemn ‘Srdjan Aleksic’ Journalist Awards on 31 May 2013, as a part of a two-day Conference “Professional and ethical standards in reporting on marginalized groups”.

The Journalist Award “Srđan Aleksić“ is given for professional reporting on marginalized groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it has been established within the „X-Press“ project. This project is being implemented with the support of the European Union with around 150,000 euro, aiming to improve the position of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the BiH society by joint actions of the non-governmental sector and the media.

A total of 10 TV and radio stories and 21 web and press texts arrived in responce to this year’s open announcement for the “Srdjan Aleksic” Journalist Awards.

In the category of print media, the jury decided to give the two first awards to Fahrudin Bender from Bihać, a journalist at ‘Oslobođenje’ and Danka Savić, a journalist at ‘Slobodna Bosna’ magazine.

In the category of web portals, the first award was given to Mladen Lakiću, portal novinar.me, whilst the second award went to Đorđe Vujatović, a journalist of RTRS web portal.

By the decision of the Jury, there will be no award for radio stories this year whilst the second award for TV story will be given to Enisa Alibalić, a journalist of RTV Tuzla Canton.

The awarded stories and texts are about different marginalized groups in the society such as disabled persons, LGBT population, returnees and war.
