Export of potatoes from BiH to the EU

On behalf of the European Commission, the Delegation of the EU to BiH/EU Special Representative Office stated today:

“At its meeting on 26/27 March 2015, the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed, the body responsible for food safety,  evaluated positively data received from Bosnia and Herzegovina and gave a green light to the European Commission to prepare a Regulation declaring Bosnia and Herzegovina free from potato ring rot. Once adopted this would then allow the export of potatoes from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU.

“The potato sector is an example where BiH demonstrated efficient controls and surveillance systems, and functional coordination, with staff and authorities working as a team across institutions. This is a positive example to be followed in other areas, such as the preparations for export of dairy products.”
